Transcarpathian orienteers brought awards from the “Budimir Half Marathon” (PHOTOS)

The cold wind, heavy clouds, low temperature – it seemed the weather did everyhing to deter potential participants from the competition in Budimir. But it is important to do what you enjoy, understand that you do something useful and enjoy it.

Traditional athletic event "Budimir Half Marathon" on April 19 brought together several hundred athletes not only from numerous Slovak clubs but also from Poland, Hungary and Ukraine. They were competing on the distance of 21 kilometers and 98 meters in three laps from the village of Budimir through Kralovce and Vajkovce. 

29-year-old member of the Slovak team Josef Urban Club from the club JM Demolex of Bardejov won in a general competition with a score of 1 hour 8 minutes and 18 seconds.

  

The prize for the second place in the main group (under 39) was presented to 24-year-old resident of Mukachevo Serhiy Rashchupkin who finished the race with a personal record – 1:11.39. Marcin Stokovets from Poland win the bronze medal – 1:12.45. 32-year-old Eduard Hapak from Uzhgorod – silver medalist of the New York Half Marathon – finished the fifth.

Victor Starodubysev from Lviv won in the category of athletes aged 40 to 49 years, former champion of Slovakia Imrich Pastor from Kosice finished the second, Uzhgorod residents Anatoly Maly and Orest Babiak took the third and the fourth places.

Ivano-Frankivsk resident Oksana Uhrynchuk from the club JM Demolex of Bardejov won in the competition among women (1:25.21), Natalia Mala from Uzhgorod became the silver medalist (1:29.11), Slovak Gabriela Slafkovska won bronze medal (1:30.57).
