Transcarpathian resident tries to leave Ukraine with a forged death certificate of his wife

A 38-year-old resident of the Transcarpathian region tried to illegally cross the border with Hungary by presenting border guards with a forged death certificate of his wife.

According to the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the man presented a death certificate of his wife, as well as documents confirming their marriage and the birth of a common son, trying to leave the country as a single father.

However, during the inspection of the documents, the border guards found that the death certificate was fake. Later, the man confessed that his wife is alive and well, and the fake document was given to him by the driver of the minibus before entering the checkpoint.

Currently, both men face legal consequences for their actions.

The pseudo-widower may be charged under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, their sale, use of forged documents”, as well as for an administrative offense for attempting to illegally cross the border.

The driver of the minibus may be prosecuted under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine”.

A message about the discovery of signs of both crimes was sent to the Uzhhorod District Police Department.
