“Transcarpathian Beaujolais”: without “Isabella, “currant” and… barbecue

The organizers announced "the rules of the game" at the Festival of new wine "Transcarpathian Beaujolais".

After a few years break, the festival with intoxicating spirit will be held again in the wine cellar "Owl’s Nest". It will take place from 17 to 20 of November.

The initiator of the festival, the chairman of the Union of private winegrowers and winemakers of Transcarpathia Oleksandr Kovach told about the requirements for the participants.

Here is the post of the organizer from his page on facebook:

"Winemakers cannot bring wines made of Vitis Labrusca (Isabella, Delaware, Lydia, Noah, etc.). Also, it is not allowed to bring fruit wines, since it is difficult to determine their origin.  For catering – no barbecue and dumplings. In our opinion, Transcarpathia has a fantastic cuisine, and we can easily do without those dishes. Of course, this does not mean that meat lovers will have nothing to eat. There will be plenty of bograch, sausages, steaks, ribs and more! Another requirement, which I want to stress on. Food outlets, which will be located outside, are alcohol free. Alcoholic beverages will be sold exclusively in the cellars!".

Mr. Oleksandr also told about the special conditions for guests:

"Another innovation is paid entrance to the cellar, the price is 20 UAH. Admission fee will be set off against the price of the drink. That is, 20 UAH will be subtracted from the cost of the wine purchased or exchanged for a glass of wine or mulled wine. Souvenir glass will be sold at 95 UAH, the price includes 1 liter of any wine of you choice."

The festival will begin in the city center. Thus, on November 17, at 19:00 festival kicks off at the corner of Korzo and Voloshin streets. With the participation of the Mayor, the first barrel of wine will be opened. This event will take place along with a fire show and knight jousts. The cellars will be open on Friday from 11:00 to 20:00.
