The head of the Road Service in Transcarpathian region Vasyl Markovich at the session of the regional council today, March 21, said that the for the funds allocated for the roads in the region this year, they could make 50 km of normal road or perform patching repairs over 1,200 km of roads.
One of the deputies asked Markovich why the average percentage of road repairs over the past year in the region was 65%, and in Khust district – 18%.
The Regional Council Chairman Ivan Baloha said that the road services in the center of Khust had removed the top layer of asphalt and stopped any further works. Markovich could not answer to this, as well as to many other questions.
As for the quality of work, Markovich said that warranty is only provided for major repairs, which had not been performed in Transcarpathia for decades. And for the maintenance no warranties are provided.
After lengthy discussions, the deputies could not decide on the wording of the report of the industry and infrastructure department, but with 82 votes supported the appeal to the Cabinet to increase funding for road works
