The first recognition of the journalist (PHOTOS)

On the occasion of the Day of Journalist, a memorial sign to the prominent publicist of the region Mykhailo Babydorych was opened in Uzhgorod

The establishment of a memorial monument was initiatied by the staff of the Uzhgorod National University Media Center and the regional organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration informed. The bas relief was made by known Transcarpathian sculptor Mykhailo Belen.

According to experts, this sign is the first in recent history memorial in Transcarpathia dedicated to journalist.

Reference. Babydorych Mykhailo Ivanovich was born on October 1, 1923 in the village of Turya Polyana, Perechyn district, Transcarpathian region. He graduated from Uzhgorod high school.

He was a participant of the guerrilla movement in Transcarpathia, the Chief of Staff of the guerrilla unit, participant of the I Congress of People’s Committees of Transcarpathian Ukraine. He worked as the second secretary of the Transcarpathian regional committee of Komsomol, in 1946 was transferred to work at the newspaper "Zakatpatska Pravda", rising from a correspondent, head of the department, the executive secretary to the deputy editor.

The award for achievements in journalism is named after Mykhailo Babydorych.
