New State Standards of elementary education – pros and cons

For the second year, students have been learning according to the new state standards.  How did the innovations of the Ministry of Education, under which, during the first four years of study, children do not receive grades in some subjects, but they study computer science and two foreign languages, turn out in practice? This is what we asked teachers and parents!

 "Of course, we are ready for any experiments.We receive instructions "from above" on how we should work – and so we have to work accordingly. Regarding the most recent "instructions", I am not too happy about them. It became much more difficult. Of course, we and students work as we should, but parents have to come to school more often. To clarify the terminology, to delve into some new things, which the children have to work with at home" – the second grade teacher Mrs. Marina said.

An experienced parent, who has brought an adult son, and now every morning drives a third-grader daughter to school says: "The system, in spite of all innovation, remains Soviet.Children must be taught essential knowledge and skills while they absorb everything like a sponge. For example, to teach them to make good decisions in critical situations. Nobody will teach children that."
