In Uzhgorod, they discussed further development of automobile checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border

These days, the Hungarian delegation led by the Director of the Department of Highway of the Ministry of National Development of Hungary Zsolt Torotskai have been staying in Uzhgorod for consultations on further development of automobile checkpoints (road infrastructure) on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. Ukrainian party was represented by the Director of the Highways Strategic Development Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine Dmytro Kotlubey, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Valeriy Lunchenko.

The parties discussed the terms of agreement between the Government of Hungary and the Government of Ukraine on the maintenance of border bridges on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border. The draft Agreement was developed in order to continue good neighborly relations and cooperation, to support the smooth international, bilateral and cross-border traffic – the participants of the meeting said.
– Road construction and simplified border crossing with European countries – these are the issues that concern Transcarpathians today. Transcarpathia borders with four EU countries. Given that our country has chosen the European vector of development, today a lot of attention is paid to visa regime liberalization. The second important issue is the development of international checkpoints. We are interested to have more checkpoints in Transcarpathia, it will bring our region and the country to Europe. So we rely on the support of Hungary, which is lobbying for our interests in the EU. We hope that all projects and grants will be implemented, and that the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Hungary will be signed as a result of the bilateral meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian – Hungarian Commission for Economic Cooperation – Valeriy Lunchenko said.
