Young Transcarpathian orienteers competed in Lviv (PHOTOS)

In the first days of May, in the Skole Beskyds, there was the open orienteering competition for Lviv youth dedicated to the 100th anniversary of victory of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen over the Russian army on the Makivka hill.

Among the twenty participating teams (each consisting of 4 athletes), representing Volyn, Lviv and Transcarpathian region, the members of the regional youth center of tourism, excursions, local history and sports (director – Honoured Teacher of Ukraine Volodymyr Chepa) showed the best results. The team of the center, composed of students of Uzhgorod and Mukachevo schools, became the winner of the overall competition, and the team Mukachevo SC "Tovarysh" finished with the third result after the team of Volyn region.

In the individual competition, graduate of Mukachevo school №11 Vladislav Frantsuzov won twice – on the middle distance and in sprint. In the sprint, he was successfully assisted by Mukachevo school №1 tenth-grader Arthur Svatko, who won the silver medal. Bronze medalist in this competition was Denys Petrochuk from Lutsk.

Among girls in the older group, Veronica Husnay, who studies in the ninth grade of Uzhgorod school number 4, won two awards. First, the girl, following Yulia Khodorchuk from Volyn and Olena Hashchak from Stary Sambir, finished with the third result on the middle distance. And then, second only to the same Khodorchuk, won a silver medal in the sprint.

But in other age categories – female born in 2001-2003 – on the middle distance, Transcarpathian girls were unbeatable! Eighth-grader of Uzhgorod school number 3 Daryna Morozova finished with the best time of day, fourth-grader of Mukachevo high school Katerina Tsepurdey took the second place, eighth-grader of Irshava secondary school №1 Anna Dyakova took the third place. Nina Tsepurdey from Mukachevo and Daryna Korovska from Irshava finished fourth and ninth respectively.

Another medal in this age group – silver in the sprint distance – was won for our region by 8th grade student of Uzhgorod school number 2 Andriy Vasylyna. The winner on this track was Boris Semenyuk from Volyn.
