Winter international children’s games in Transcarpathia are becoming a reality

Half a year ago, Vasyl Hisem, the chairman of the regional skiing federation, said in an interview with the NZ that he had a dream to hold the Children’s International Winter Games in Transcarpathia in 2025. And now this dream is gradually becoming a reality.

On October 24, Kyiv hosted the regular meeting of the Presidium of the Ski Federation of Ukraine, where they discussed the preparation of the project for holding the Children’s International Winter Games in Transcarpathia in 2025. This event was initiated by the Transcarpathian Regional Ski Federation in the framework of the Concept for the development of the mountainous territories of the Ukrainian Carpathians, which was approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 03.04.2019 №232-r. The Presidium unanimously supported the initiative and the willingness to assist in its implementation.
In his turn, the chairman of the regional skiing federation Vasyl Hisem added: “There have already been public hearings in the village of Kolchino in Mukachevo district on the allocation of a land plot for the construction of a multifunctional winter palace, the village council approved the decision on land allocation, so the design work is currently underway and we are planning to perform construction work from 2021 to 2023. And in 2024, we plan to hold the first official competition in this palace. It will be a kind of test for us. And the holding of the Children’s International Winter Games 2025 will become a kind of rehearsal for the possible Winter Olympics in Ukraine in 2030.”
