Will the president make Transcarpathia finally tackle the waste problem?

It seems Transcarpathia will have prospects to solve one of the most serious problems in the region and finally introduce proper waste management. The head of the state took care of it.

The President Petro Poroshenko, while participating in the Regional Development Council in Transcarpathia, instructed to prepare a special program on waste recycling enterprises. Also, he talked about the introduction of "green energy" for the region.

The President instructed the Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Regional Development, Construction and Housing Economy Hennadiy Zubko and the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal to prepare the relevant proposals and ensure the necessary results.

Hennadiy Moskal noted that the issue of waste processing enterprises is relevant for the whole of Ukraine, including Transcarpathia. According to him, the forest covers more than 52% of the region’s territory, there is not enough land for landfills.

The President stressed on the need to join efforts to solve the problems. The Head of the State noted that thanks to decentralization, the community can determine its own priorities – where they need schools, lighting, or roads and where the government should help through the state fund of regional development, – the press service informs.
