Yesterday evening, the border guards of the "Dilove" department of the Mukachevo detachment prevented an attempt of smuggling of almost 3 thousand packs of cigarettes. Having received information about alleged illegal activities on the border, the border guards immediately organized search operations. As a result, shortly afterwards, law enforcement officers detected a group of people who were quickly moving to the border with packages on their shoulders. Having noticed the border patrol, the unknown persons left the packages and fled.
Later, during the inspection of the area, the border guards found 6 packages of tobacco products. The offenders planned to take to neighboring Romania 2,880 packs of cigarettes of different brands.
The contraband tobacco products were delivered to the border guard unit and subsequently will be handed over to the fiscal service.
Currently, the measures to identify a circle of persons involved in the illegal activities are being taken.
