Where migrant workers send the most money to Ukraine from (Infographic)

In 2016, migrant workers sent to Ukraine more than $ 5.4 billion. This is 5.3% more than that in 2015.

This amount is comparable to the 20% of budget revenues in the last year and accounts to 7% of GDP, according to the statistics of the National Bank. Experts expect an increase in the number of migrant workers when visa-free regime enters into force.

The largest flow of currency comes from Russia. Although, it has significantly dropped since the previous year – by nearly $ 200 million. The NBU attribute it to the decision of the NSDC of Ukraine dd. September 16, 2016 on the ban on the use of Russian payment systems. And after Russia banned in March remittances to Ukraine through foreign payment systems, experts expect a further sharp reduction in the flow of currency (at least officially) from Russia.
