Water in the Latorytsya near Chop rose to 9 meters

As of 9:30 am, Wednesday (8.02), flood wave in the rivers of Tisa and Latorytsya near Chop rose respectively to 9 and 5 meters.

– And while the height of the dams on the Tisa is 12 meters (ie there is a huge "margin"), in the Latorytsya the water level is only 80 cm below that of the devastating flood of 2001 – Hennadiy Moskal said. – The cause for the rise the flood wave is an ice jam on the two rivers, which was formed in the territory of neighboring Hungary. However, there is no threat of flooding in Transcarpathia, the water though slowly but surely is passing to neighboring Hungary.

Professionals of the Tisa Basin Water Management Administration are continuously monitoring the level of the flood wave.
