Yesterday, September 26, the first regional retrospective exhibition "Watercolor" opened in the Ilko Gallery. The exhibition will run for almost a month. The vernissage is predicted to be the most successful art event of the year. After all, it features the works of more than 30 artists, both classics, who are no longer among us, and contemporary artists working in this technique, which is now considered a little forgotten.
Opening the exhibition, the People’s Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Skakandiy, who loves watercolor, said: "We want our first watercolor exhibition to pay homage to this technique. We want people to understand and feel that art is not only on the canvas, but also on paper, metal, clay."
Watercolor is a very quick technique that conveys an "instant" expression of nature or state. You do not have the right to make mistakes here, because you can not make corrections, like, say, in oil painting. "Only true craftsmen can work with watercolors. Such as Boretsky, Erdelyi, Bokshay, Gluck, Kotska and a number of others – our predecessors. They put their own meaning into it", – the head of the Transcarpathian organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, People’s Artist of Ukraine Borys Kuzma says. Recently, it has become very popular, and most fans of art pay attention to this technique.
The exhibition also allows you to see a certain slice in the development of watercolor painting in Transcarpathia.
