Vasyl Skryp: Transcarpathia will have a modern TB hospital thanks to grant funds

Deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, the chief physician of the Medical Association "Phthisiology" Vasyl Skrype reported that the region had received the chance to solve the problem with the construction of a modern center for tuberculosis patients.

The well-known physician said that he and his colleagues from the Madical Association "Phthisiology" had won the competition of pilot projects on "Fighting tuberculosis in the border areas of Poland, Belarus and Ukraine" – the page of his political party informs.

"In the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, our project is in the list of grant receivers. We have already had meetings in Poland with our partners, with representatives of the pulmonary center in Rzeszow, and talked to the director of the local university clinic. During the meeting, we discussed every sector of our cooperation, what our institution will do and what issues the Polish party will deal with. The main beneficiary of the funds will be the Department of Health of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and two medical institutions in the city of Rzeszow" – Vasyl Skryp informed.

"The principal grant receiver is the Ukrainian party. The amount of grant is 6.7 million euros, 10% of which is obligatory co-financing from the Ukrainian party. Poland will receive 1.1 million euros of the grant money.

The funds provided for Ukraine will be used to complete the construction of the TB hospital for 100 beds in the village of Nyzhnya Apsha in Tyachiv district.

By November 30, we must complete the concept note, then within 2 weeks it will be reviewed by the Technical Secretariat. If all goes well, we will be given three months to develop detailed project estimates, and the financing will begin in the second half of 2017. The project is for 2 years – from 2017 to 2019" – Vasyl Skryp said.
