Uzhgorod residents support the Maidan and want to NATO

The political Uzhgorod. What is the public mood today and how has the public opinion changed during the revolutionary events?

This is the topic of the most recent sociological survey, the results of which were announced today in the regional center. The study of the Transcarpathian Center for Political Studies included 500 responses. The city residents in general support the events on the Maidan, which changed the power in the country, as well as European integration.

500 people were interviewed, the standard sample for Uzhgorod by age, gender, ethnicity, occupation and religion. When asked "Do you think that Russians in Ukraine need protection?", 81.6% answered "no", and 7.3% answered "yes". The majority – 54.5% – believe that the annexation of the Crimea by Russia is a direct invasion of another country’s territory. When asked "Do plan to take part in presidential elections?", 71% answered "yes", 13.7% answered "probably yes."

Victor Pashchenko, the founder and director of the Center for Political Studies, noted that the amount of criticism that "election won’t change anything" and fuzzy answers in general among respondents decreased. As for the candidates for President: Poroshenko – 35.2%, Klitschko – 11.7%, Tymoshenko – 8.7%, Symonenko 4.6%, Lyashko – 4.0%. And Dobkin, who according to the consolidated survey data for Ukraine, has a rating of 4.2%, in Transcarpathia has only 0.2%.

The popularity of Poroshenko is also evidenced by the data of the survey on parties – "Solidarnist", which is known, in fact, only by the name of its leader, is trusted by 18.6% of Uzhgorod residents.

Meanwhile, the Party of Regions has fallen significantly which was expected – 2.2% in Uzhgorod, while the newly formed party "Right Sector" has reached 5.5% of confidence.
