Uzhgorod policemen caught a housing scammer

Uzhgorod police managed to stop the illegal seizure of a pensioner’s apartment.

Law enforcers have established the circumstances of fraudulent actions against a resident of Uzhgorod and his mother. The suspect in the fraud has already been found. The investigation continues.

Officers of the Criminal Department of Uzhgorod Police have found a local resident suspected of fraudulent actions.

A resident of Uzhgorod reported a fraud to the police. The man said that three unknown people had come to the house where his mother lived. The applicant was informed about the strangers attempting to get into the apartment by the neighbors.

When he came there, a fight broke out between the man and the scammer. During the quarrel it turned out that the mother of the applicant herself had given the keys to the crooks, and also registered the apartment for them.  The police found out that the contract was legally invalid.

The police started a criminal proceeding over the incident under Part 1 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Fraud), and have already found the main suspect. The woman has already been prosecuted for fraud and theft.

The issue of the seizure of the apartment is currently being solved. The investigation continues, the PR department of Transcarpathian regional police reported.
