Opened on May 3, 1953.
The complex was designed by architect Yevhen Waltz.
It accommodates: 4 football fields, basketball and 3 volleyball courts, a special playground for gorodki, 6 tennis courts.
In 1962, at the stadium, high jumper Valeriy Brumel set a European record, jumping over the bar at 2.20 m.
On April 29, 1992, the first official match of the Ukrainian national football team took place here. Ukraine lost to Hungary 1:3.⠀
The stadium seats 12,000 spectators. Reconstructions took place in 1983, 2005, 2012, 2018.
