Uzhgorod law enforcement officers seized a grenade and an extendable baton from local residents

Policemen are establishing the circumstances of both cases. Once the law-enforcers gather evidence, they will send the cases to court

On March 27, a resident of Zahorska street appealed to Uzhgorod police department. The 30-year-old man reported that he had found a dangerous object in the garden.

The investigative team, which arrived at the scene, together with the patrol policemen and rescuers, found out that it was an "RGD-5" grenade of the postwar period.   Law enforcement officers seized the grenade, it will be destroyed by rescuers under the supervision of the police. No criminal proceeding over this incident was opened, because there was no crime.

At night, March 28, while patroling on Mynaiska street, an operative of the Uzhgorod police department noticed a suspicious person. Having noticed the law-enforcement officer, the man began to behave nervously and tried to avoid meeting with him.

That is why the law-enforcers decided to check his documents. The suspicious person was identified. It was a 20-year-old resident of the regional center of Transcarpathia previously convicted of property crime. During the search, the man voluntarily gave the policemen a metal extendable baton. The material evidence was seized.

A criminal proceeding over the incident was opened under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, the illegal use of weapons.The investigation continues.
