Uzhgorod: in the constituency number 68, there will be a “nonstandard” station

In the village of Serednye in Uzhgorod district (single-mandate constituency number 68), there will be the station number 210548, the floor area of ​​which is less than 50 square meters.

This is a deviation from the requirements of paragraph 3 of Article 83 of the Law of Ukraine "On Elections of People’s Deputies of Ukraine", which states that a small polling station (number of voters – up to 500 people) shall have an area of ​​not less than 50 square meters.

The station number 210548 was created by the decision of the CEC number 66 of April 12, 2012 in the building of the Roma primary school, which is located near the Roma-populated areas. Then, the list of voters included 420 people.

In 2012, the members of the election commission in the constituency number 68 from the opposition parties insisted that the station does not meet the standards, therefore it was necessary to find another room for it. According to the information, which they provided during the meeting of the election commission, the station number 210548 was created with the assistance of the authorities to control the voices of Roma.

During the elections of 2012, the observers of the OPORA and other participants of the electoral process observed that at the station number 210548, there were two or more people in the same booth at the same time. As a result, members of the election commission in the constituency number 68, after numerous discussions, still acknowledged the voting at the PEC as legal.

According to the protocol of the PEC, at the station, 306 of 313 voters, who received ballots, voted for the candidate from the Party of Regions Vasyl Kovacs, 3 ballots were invalidated. 304 of 313 voters voted for the Party of Regions.

As the current chairman of the DEC number 68 Oleksandr Gabor reported to the observer of the OPORA, no written or verbal complaints or suggestions regarding the station number 210548 have been reported by participants of the election process and public authorities.So the station will continue to operate in the current room.
