Uzhgorod “flea market” is going to be shut down

Today, July 5, the Department of the Municipal Police and Law Enforcement and the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection of Uzhgorod City Council together with the police made a raid to eliminate illegal trade on Telman street.

"We began today at 8 am, but we realized that at the markets "Radvanka" and "Niva" we should start no later than six in the morning. A number of inspections is planned in this part of the city, which will continue until the complete cleaning of the territory," – the chief of the city municipal police Serhiy Prosyanyk told the 7dniv.info.

The biggest problem of the "flea market" at the "Svynyachka" (this is how Uzhgorod residents call the stalls in the "Radvanka" neighborhood) is that a large area is privately owned. By the next raid, Uzhgorod police will develop measures against the owners of the "Niva", who allow such trade at their property.

Vendors themselves say that they pay 2-5 hryvnia for a place, but no one gives any checks. People trade on the ground, while spaces behind the counter are empty.

In addition to trade, there is another problem at the "Svynyachka" – several rows of parked cars, so there is hope that next Sunday, the City Traffic Police Department will join the raid and participate in restoration of law and order in the city.
