On Thursday, August 23, the head of the regional administration Olexander Ledyda met with UN Resident Coordinator, Resident Representative of UNDP in Ukraine Olivier Adam.

The "Local Development CBA" project in Transcarpathia became so successful that today negotiations are conducted about implementing its third phase. Resident Representative of UNDP in Ukraine Olivier Adam said:

– Transcarpathia occupies a special place in the implementation of EU projects. Your region strikes with an interesting history, customs, natural beauty and unique geographical location. Therefore, I plan to devote my time not only to visiting communities that receive project funds, but also to exploring the area.

Olivier Adam also shared future plans. In particular, he said that European partners are willing to spend a quarter of a million dollars for the budget management project in the Transcarpathian region. Currently, they are waiting for the approval of the documents by the Ministry of Finance.

Note: EU / UNDP Project "Local Development CBA II" was launched in Transcarpathia on July 12, 2011 with the signing of a joint Memorandum of Understanding between the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Transcarpathian Regional Council and UNDP. After that, nine major districts were selected to participate in the project – Berehove, Vinogradovo, Irshava, Mizhgirya, Mukachevo, Perechyn, Svalyava, Tyachiv, Hust and 3 back-up districts – Rakhiv, Uzhgorod, Velyky Berezny. 4 to 5 localities from each of these areas took on the project (in total 37 communities). During the second phase of the project 34 micro-projects were approved. It is expected that their value exceeds 8 million UAH, 3.2 million of which are project funds, 4.4 million – budget funds, 0.7 million – community funds. About 40 thousand people will receive benefits from the implementation of micro-projects.
