“Ukrposhta” raises tariffs by 19.5%

The National Commission for Communications and Information Regulation, at the meeting on April 7, decided to increase the limit tariffs for a number of postal services by an average of 19.5%. 

It was found out at the meeting that "Ukrposhta" had asked to raise the tariffs. The last time the tariffs were revised in summer of 2013.

Tariffs for sending letters, cards, packets and parcels up to 10 kg were increased.

As explained by representatives of the "Ukrposhta" present at the meeting, the cost of providing services is not covered by current tariffs anymore. Costs of fuel, electricity, prices for other goods and services have increased.

According to the representative of the "Ukrposhta", 90% of the cost account for payment of salaries and maintenace of the network.

Raising of tariffs, she said, will allow the company to increase revenues by a total of over 127 million hryvnia.

Additional revenues will be used primarily to increase wages of postmen that are still extremely low.

The head of the NCCIR Oleksandr Zhyvotovsky said that the constant increase in tariffs would not save the company.

He noted that the company must have an effective development strategy.
