Ukrainians have been paid over 900 million of wage arrears – GPU

For the 6 months of this year, due to intervention of the prosecutor’s office, citizens have been paid more than 900 million hryvnias of owed wages, claims for another 21.6 million hryvnias have been filed.

This was announced by the press service of the GPU.

In addition, in order to protect citizens’ rights to wages, 293 criminal proceedings have been initiated, of which 146 have been sent to court.

As noted, 504 officials of the executive authorities and local self-government, including 250 of control authorities, have been prosecuted.

These are the results of prosecutor inspections to protect the constitutional rights of citizens to wages.

In particular, the inspections showed that facts of deliberate non-payment of employees’ remuneration by management of entities remain widespread.

Also, during the inspection, the General Prosecutor’s Office found evidence of under-use of their powers by the control authorities, namely, the State Inspectorate of Labour.

"After reviewing the submissions made to the of the State Inspectorate of Labour, charges were brought against 10 officials of the agency," – the press service reported.
