Ukrainian Tyachiv and Romanian Small Tyachiv will be united by the Danube Day (Announcement)

The Danube Day is a common pan-European event, which is celebrated annually in late June in 14 countries of the river basin under the auspices of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River. In Ukraine, this holiday is traditionally celebrated in Transcarpathia, where its largest tributary – the Tisa river – runs. This massive event has been held for 11 years in a row, and this year it will be held on July 1 in the city of Tyachiv.

The city for the event was chosen not randomly – this year, the Danube Day is planned to be held together with Romania, as in 2017, the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Romania is celebrated.  The city of Tyachiv is located on the Ukrainian-Romanian border: Small Tyachiv (Romania) and Tyachiv (Ukraine) are divided by the Tisa river, but will be united by by a joint celebration of the Danube Day-2017.

The highlight of this year’s celebration will be a competition for best selfie video "My life and the Tisa" announced on the eve of the event. According to its terms, the participants have to make a video (up to 1 min.) about themselves and the river (Tisa) in a creative way. It may be a theatrical performance, wishes to the river, favorite spot, etc. The most creative works will receive prizes and will be demonstrated in all Danube countries.

In addition, there will be a quest for the participants of the festival: "Journey down the Tisa and the Danube to the Black Sea", the performance of Tisa ambassadors of youth – Romania, painting of a mural in the city of Tyachiv and a competition for the largest amount of collected plastic bottles "Plastic treasures."
