Two Transcarpathians, who illegally mined gravel, will be judged in court

Rakhiv department of Tyachiv local prosecutor’s office approved the indictment in the criminal proceedings on charges against two residents of the district.

These persons are reasonably accused of a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – namely, the illegal extraction of minerals of national importance.

Pre-trial investigation established that at the end of October last year, the Transcarpathians having no special mining permits performed illegal extraction of sand and gravel raw materials in total volume of 3.6 cubic meters, which (according to the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №827 of 12.12.1994 "On approval of the list of minerals of national and local importance") belong to the mineral resources of national importance.
Under Articles 468, 469 of the CPC of Ukraine, the prosecutor made with the accuseds a deal on recognition of guilt and agreed punishment in the form of a fine of 400 non-taxable minimum incomes (about 7000 UAH). 

Currently, the indictment has been forwarded to Rakhiv district court for consideration on the merits.
