The most high-altitude churches in Ukraine are located in villages that lie high in the Carpathians, the "Religion in Ukraine" reported, citing the Visnyk.
In particular, the church in Stebne in Rakhiv district is located at 870 meters and the one in Chorna Tisa of the same district – at 805 meters above the sea level.
But the churches in villages of Putila district in Bukovina are located even higher. In particular, Byskiv – 1067 m, Vypchyna – 1144 m (a centenary chapel). And the highest settlement is Sarata – 1182 meters.
In the village of Bukovets in Verkhovyna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region, the Church of the Ascension was built on the pass – at an altitude of 840 meters above the sea level.
