Transcarpathians steal from each other meat, fat and ham

Precinct officers of Mukachevo district within a few hours solved a theft from the house of a resident of the village of Babychi. The thief was identified, the police have started investigation into this incident.

Yesterday, March 28, Mukachevo district police received a statement from a 63-year-old resident of the village of Babychi. The pensioner reported that someone had entered her house and stolen ham, homemade sausages and rabbit and chicken meat from the freezer. 

Within hours, the precinct police officers found out that the theft had been committed by a 46-year-old unemployed neighbor of the applicant. In the suspect’s house, police found only some of the stolen goods. The woman could not explain her actions, as she was intoxicated. 

The police have started criminal proceeding over this incident under Part 3 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is theft coupled with breaking and entering. The pre-trial investigation continues.

 

A few days before that incident, a 61-year-old resident of Perechyn reported a theft to the local police. The pensioner told law enforcement officers that 14 kilograms of pork and 5 kilograms of fat had been stolen from her attic.

Employees of the Criminal Police found out that the theft had been committed by a relative of the victim – a 35-year-old resident of Perechyn. Physical evidence was seized.

A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft). It is punishable by a fine of up to fifty non-taxable minimum incomes, or correctional labor for up to two years, or imprisonment for up to three years.
