On the occasion of the International Day of the Roma, the festival of the Romani musical culture was held in Uzhgorod. Like every year, representatives of the Roma community gathered in the center of the city wearing colorful national costumes, sang songs and performed national dances.
The procession started on Teatralna Square and finished on Pravoslavna Embankment, where they lit candles and dropped flower wreaths into the river as a symbol of the unification of the Roma people throughout the world.
The solemn part of the festival took place at the regional music and drama theater.
Heads of regional and city authorities congratulated the Roma in the crowded hall of the regional music and drama theater. The head of the Regional State Administration H.Moskal wore a bright red shirt, congratulated the Roma and presented the awards, diplomas, and letters of gratitude of the regional administration and the regional council to the most active representatives of the Roma cultural societies and public figures.
The Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv presented the awards on behalf of the Uzhgorod City Council.
Then, there was a bright and colorful concert.
