On Thursday, January 24, the chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis visited the regional specialized children’s pulmonary sanatorium "Malyatko" in order to personally inspect the progress of the reconstruction of the unfinished building No. 1.
The construction of the medical building of the health resort started back in 2011, and as of now, according to the results of the inspection, only 42 percent of the work has been completed. Due to the unscrupulous contractor, the building with an area of 720 square meters has remained unfinished for over seven years.
According to the chief doctor of the sanatorium Galina Moroz, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the building is being ruined. "We can not provide a full range of medical services for children who come from all the region for treatment. And this is the only children’s sanatorium of this kind in Transcarpathia! After the reconstruction, it can be equal to "Artek", – Galina Moroz said.
Mykhailo Rivis fully supported the manager of the children’s santorium.
– The Transcarpathian Regional Council has submitted all necessary documents to the State Regional Development Fund for 2019 to include and finance the unfinished building of the "Malyatko" sanatorium, and is also ready to allocate the necessary funds from the regional budget as co-financing so that children of the region could be treated here, – Mykhailo Rivis said.

Currently, "Malyatko" provides examination, treatment and rehabilitation of children aged 3 to 6 years old with nonspecific broncho-pulmonary pathology. In addition, the sanatorium provides rehabilitation for schoolchildren in the summer, and since 2009 has been providing year-round rehabilitation for children of junior high school age without interrupting education process. The Transcarpathian health resort can accommodate up to 80 children.
