Transcarpathian puppeteers were praised by the jury and the audience at the festival “Golden Telesyk” in Lviv (PHOTOS)

The cast of the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theater went to the Xth International Festival of Puppet Theaters "Golden Telesyk", which took place in the city of Lviv from 8 to 10 of June, right after returning from the Slovak city of Kosice, where they participated in the festival "Virvar" and presented premiere of the international project "Wandering Puppets" – the play "Magic Balloon", – theater historian Nina Malyshka informs.

The festival "Golden Telesyk" initiated by the Lviv Regional Academic Puppet Theatre, the Department of Culture of the Lviv Regional State Administration and the National Union of Theater Workers of Ukraine in 1996. 

This time the theater from Uzhgorod presented at the Lviv festival the play "In our paradise on Earth" based on the works of Taras Shevchenko. 

By choosing this particular production, the theater management made the right choice, because it drew attention of the participants, critics, and representatives of Lviv intelligentsia. According to the professor, the head of the puppet theater acting and directing department of the Kyiv National University of Theater, Film and Television, Honored Artist of Ukraine Leonid Popov, "if the festival was held as a competition, the Transcarpathian production would definitely be among leaders."

The cast of the play includes actors: Honored Artist of Ukraine Svitlana Kobzysta, Mykola Karpenko, Andriy Opiok, Oleksandr Belikov. Using theatrical means, visuals, music, singing, acting and puppets, the cast and crew revived poetic images, brought Shevchenko’s poetry closer to contemporary children.
