This year’s, already the eighth festival was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine, the 775th anniversary of the first mention of the city of Kolomyia, and the 160th anniversary of Ivan Franko.
Theater companies from Ukraine and abroad, which stand out for their repertoire policy or a penchant for experimentation on stage, were invited to participate in the festival "Kolomyia presentations".
The productions were judged by the honourable board of the festival – the most authoritative Ukrainian experts.
The festival "Kolomyia presentations" is designed for multi-age audiences, and therefore the program was made of the performances for children, youth and adult audiences.
It should be noted that the management of the festival truly favors the Transcarpathian puppeteers, because the theater was invited to the festival for the third time.
This time, the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theatre presented the play "In our paradise on Earth" based on works by Shevchenko, written for the stage and directed by the Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Kutsyk, the visual image of the performance was created by set designer Tetyana Ulynets and light designer Irina Osokina. The play, produced in 2014 to the 200th anniversary of the poet, is intended for primary and secondary school age children. The play was awarded with the prize of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and Transcarpathian Regional Council in the field of theatrical art in the nomination "directing and staging group." The production is an attempt to revive poetic images, to bring Shevchenko’s poetry closer to contemporary children using theatrical means, visuals, music, singing, acting and puppets.
The cast of the play includes actors: Honored Artist of Ukraine Svitlana Kobzysta, Mykola Karpenko, Andriy Opiok, Oleksandr Belikov.
A detailed professional analysis of both the performance and the festival as a whole will be later, but the play of the Transcarpathian theater was received extremely well – the audience and the participants of the festival admired the action on the stage. Journalist Oksana Rizhuk shared her impressions in social networks: "I have a sentiment to the Transcarpathian Puppet Theater "Bavka." The performance "In our paradise on earth" is the third, that was shown in Kolomyia, and… the third masterpiece. It is a continuous visual aesthetics for the eye. All the images are so beautifully thought out, every detail is woven in the picture so seamlessly, that you just watch and relax."
