The police found illegal poppy plantations in the garden of a women from the village of Nelipyno in Svalyava district. The woman admitted that she knew that the cultivation of these plants was prohibited, but did not want to destroy them.
In total, the police seized 205 poppy stalks. The police sent them to the Research Forensic Center for examination. The woman will be brought to responsibility under Art. 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – planting or cultivation of poppy or cannabis. The investigation continues.
Under Part 1 of Art.310 of the Criminal Code, illegal planting and cultivation of poppy in amount of 100 to 500 plants or cannabis in amount of 10 to 50 plants is punishable by a fine of UAH 1.7 thousand to UAH 8.5 thousand or arrest for up to 6 months, or restriction of liberty for the same term.
