Transcarpathian police officers rescued a baby abandoned by his mother

In the village of Horbok in Irshava district, at dawn, a passer-by found on the street a shopping bag with a newborn baby inside. The baby had been abandoned by his mother. People reported the discovery to the head of the district inspector service, who immediately called an ambulance to the scene. It saved the life of the baby who was already freezing in the cold.
 
This incident took place in early March in the village of Horbok in Irshava district of Transcarpathian region.
 
A resident of the village Mr. Vasyl, returning home at dawn from night duty found a big bag on the street, at the fence. When the man came closer, he heard from the bag a sound similar to a weak moan of a child. Having opened the bag, he saw a newborn baby inside. The baby was not even crying, but barely breathing…
 
Other villagers came up to him. They began to warm the baby. Mr. Vasyl tried to call an ambulance, but could not get through. Then the man remembered the cellphone number of the head of the district inspector service of Irshava district police department Lieutenant Colonel Yaroslav Todavchych and called him.
 
Wasting no time, Lieutenant Colonel Todavchych immediately called the investigative team and an ambulance. They arrived to the village of Horbok from Irshava in 20 minutes. This prompt response of medics and law enforcement officers saved the life of the baby.
 
Residents of the village of Horbok sent a letter to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov requesting to award Lieutenant Colonel Ya.Todavchych and other Irshava law enforcement officers who saved the life of the child.
