In the village of Hrushovo, Tyachiv district, the driver of a BMW ran over a cyclist who had suddenly appeared on the road. The man died on the spot from his injuries. A criminal proceeding over the accident has been initiated.
At about 8:00 pm, law enforcement officers received a report from a 28-year-old resident of the village of Lazy in Tyachiv district. The man said that he was driving a car "BMW" on Holovna Street in the village of Hrushovo and hit a cyclist. According to the driver, the man had suddenly ridden onto the carriageway.
The 63-year-old resident of the village of Hrushovo suffered injuries that proved to be fatal. According to medical test, the BMW driver was sober. The car and bicycle were seized by law enforcement officers and taken to the impound lot of the Tyachiv police department.
Officers of the specialized department for crimes in the field of transport of the Transcarpathian regional police initiated a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of the traffic safety rules). The investigation continues.
