Transcarpathian police caught a pickpocket red-handed

A 62-year-old victim did not even notice her wallet stolen out of her bag at the market.   

However, it was noticed by a police officer who caught and detained a 55-year-old pickpocket. 

Now she faces up to three years in prison. The wallet was returned to the owner.

A 62-year-old resident of Volovets district came to Mukachevo market for shopping.

 Walking around the market, the victim did not even notice an unknown woman steal her wallet out of her bag and run away. 

However, it was noticed by a police officer who caught and detained the thief. 

The thief was taken to the Police Department.

The 55-year-old woman is well known there as she has been repeatedly convicted for similar crimes.

The thief returned the stolen wallet. It contained the money in the amount of 2,300 UAH, a gold earring, several bank cards and pension certificate.

The police identified the victim and returned the stolen items. 

Investigators of Mukachevo Police Department charged the pickpocket with an offense under Part 1 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft). 

The woman faces up to three years in prison.
