Goverla is the highest mountain not only in the Carpathian region, but also in Ukraine. Every year, it is visited by thousands of tourists who want to experience how it feels to be on top of the highest point of the country. The staff of the Department of Ecology also had enough enthusiasm to conquer the Goverla.
19 nature conservationists led by the department director Vitaliy Semal arranged the ascent to the top of the mountain, dedicated to the World Environment Day. The ascent started from the village of Luhy in Rakhiv district. The route ran through the territory of the CBR – nature conservation area of national importance. There are special rules for all visitors there: you can not litter, harm nature, kindle fire, put up tents, fish, gather flowers, berries, mushrooms and more.
Our environmentalists not only enjoyed the scenery and breathed fresh mountain air, but also recorded everything on video and photo, called relatives and sang the anthem of Ukraine joined by other tourists.
Maria Rushchak, like most of the staff, climbed the Goverla for the first time: "Every Ukrainian should climb this mountain at least once in their lives. Nature always inspires, the mountains empower, and such trips unite and strengthen people and whole regions, because here there is an atmosphere of mutual understanding, friendliness and common goal."
On the way back, the employees took garbage bags and cleaned the area along their route.
The event ended with a tasty bograch, and some even bathed in a cold mountain river.
The Department of Ecology specialists want to visit this place again and also visit the neighboring, less high but equally beautiful mountains of Petros, Pip Ivan and others, to visit the Nesamovyte lake, and therefore, see you soon, GOVERLA!
