Foresters are rallying near the Transcarpathian Regional Council building. It is related to the Government’s proposed reform of the industry, which they consider to be unacceptable, as it will change the "rules of the game" in the forestry sector.
Valeriy Fedurtsya, the head of the trade union of forestry workers of the region, took the floor at the meeting of the Transcarpathian Regional Council. The foresters are preparing an appeal to the state authorities, asking not to enact the decree of the Cabinet, which introduces a new strategy in the forestry industry.
During 9 months, foresters of the region received 39 million in profit, – the representative of the regional forestry administration said. And the new strategy will destroy the achievements. In addition, it has not been discussed in the region. The foresters have formed their proposals and ask not only to repeal the decree, which incited the industry workers, but also to introduce certain innovations in the field.
Also, the foresters believe that the reform is contrary to decentralization. They ask deputies of the Regional Council to support the appeal.
