Transcarpathian folk choir invites to the mysterious ethno program “Dry Dance” (ANNOUNCEMENT)

This was announced on her Facebook page by Natalia Petiy-Potapchuk.

– Have you ever heard of "Dry Dance"? I have recently learnt about these ancient and unique folk customs of our ancestors, the traditions of the winter cycle, the pre-Christmas fast. Thanks to Vira Madyar-Novak, a well-known folklorist, I heard about this unique phenomenon during evening parties, which was common only in our region!   The ancient, and not quite "perfect" in the modern sense of word, songs created and preserved by our unknown authors, the oldest folk dances – all that in authentic, traditional folk costumes and sets from the archives of the Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life (director, scholar Vasyl Kotsan, who is a co-organizer of this unique ethno program together with the Transcarpathian folk choir).

The incredible "Tsimboryky" headed by a great connoisseur and promoter of Transcarpathian folk lore Natalija Shimsha from the city of Kust will be another highlight of our event. One of the best children’s folk groups in Ukraine!
