Transcarpathian Ethnographic Museum celebrated 70th anniversary! (PHOTOS)

On Friday, June 19, in the chapel of the Uzhgorod castle, there were solemn events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Transcarpathian Ethnographic Museum. Today this place is not only the leading treasury of historical memory in the region, but also the center of science, culture and tourism.

 

The festive event was opened by the museum director Vasyl Sheba, who spoke about the history of this unique institution, the stages of its development. Today it is a place for storage of relics and research and the source of cultural leaders, – he said.

Then, the participants of the holiday, the organizers and the museum workers were congratulated by the heads of regional authorities, guests and artists of Transcarpathia. In particular, the head of the Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal, the Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko, the head of the Department of Culture of the Regional State Administration Yuriy Hleba.

Vasyl Hubal said that the institution is already known outside our region and in Europe. "You not only preserve evidence of the past of our region, in fact, its very history. You also do a lot to promote knowledge of Transcarpathia. It is because of you that a lot of people get to know about special and very interesting history of the region. I sincere thank you for everything. I assure you that the government will continue to help you, we will do everything possible for the development of the museum. I am glad to be present at this celebration in a circle of intellectuals in these walls, the entire history Transcarpathia is here", – the head of the RSA said.

Volodymyr Chubirko stressed that preserving the cultural heritage of the people is very honorable and at the same time highly responsible job.   He assured that the Regional Council supports creative intellectuals who asked to name the Transcarpathian Ethnographic Museum after the famous historian, archaeologist, ethnographer, founder of the museum business in Transcarpathia Tyvodar Lehotsky. This decision will be considered at the next session of the regional council.

The best representatives of the museum staff received diplomas from the Regional State Administration and the Regional Council, as well as the Department of Culture and the Cultural Workers Union.   Fellow museum workers, artists and other countrymen, who came to honor the museum staff, joined the congratulations.
