Transcarpathian customs officers revealed more than 1,100 violations of the law

Within 6 months of 2016, officials of the Transcarpathian customs office found 1,122 violations of customs legislation of Ukraine totaling UAH 14.3 million. Objects of offenses were seized in 339 cases, their value amounted to nearly UAH 13.1 million. Most often, citizens tried to illegally import food – 123 cases totaling UAH 2.6 million. 

As for excise goods, since the beginning of the year, illegal import of alcoholic beverages in the amount of UAH 145,275 and export of tobacco products in the amount of UAH 3 million 671 thousand has been recorded.

Also customs experts recorded 47 cases of illegal importation of narcotic and psychotropic drugs.     

It should be noted that citizens try to illegally bring to Ukraine vehicles in violation of customs legislation. Mostly, they submit to the customs office forged documents or those containing false information on the cost of vehicles and the identification numbers of the vehicle bodies.

In total, in the first half of 2016, 21 such cases were recorded, the cost of temporarily seized vehicles is UAH 9 million 39 thousand. Also, in addition to cars, citizens tried to illegally import into the territory of our country motorcycles and mopeds, which are subject to certification in Ukraine, and therefore must be declared in writing when imported to Ukraine. For 6 months of 2016, two cases of illegal import of motorcycles and mopeds into Ukraine totaling UAH 7,755 were recorded.
