Transcarpathian commander of a mechanized battalion mortar battery will be judged

Transcarpathian prosecutors to oversee the observance of laws in the military sphere have completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding regarding the mortar battery commander of the military unit A1556 Major S. He is suspected of committing crimes under Part 2 of Art. 410 (theft, embezzlement, extortion of weapons), Part 3 of Art. 27, Part 1 of Art. 358 (forgery), Part 3 of Art. 358 (forgery), Part 4 of Ar. 358 (use of knowingly forged documents) and Part 4 of Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving of undue benefit).

In particular, it was found out that the officer, being a military official, had acted with direct intent and purpose of illicit personal enrichment through fraud, forgery and use of knowingly falsified official documents.   He forged a power of attorney to receive funds allegedly on behalf of soldiers F. and V. The amount of undue benefit was 8,200 UAH.

In addition, defendant S, received from his subordinate soldiers V. and K. the illegal cash remuneration in amount of more than 8,000 UAH for creation of desirable for them conditions of military service.

According to the senior prosecutor of the department for supervision of the observance of law in criminal proceedings and during operational activities – Junior Counselor of Justice Igor Fushtey, September 20, 2013, the indictment was sent to Mukachevo district court of Transcarpathian region – Mykola Hutsulyak, the spokesman of the Prosecutor of the Western region of Ukraine to oversee the observance of laws in the military sphere said
