Transcarpathia is the second in the list of regions with the most expensive borsch

The Association of the Suppliers of Retail Chains traditionally determined which regions have the most expensive and the cheapest borsch according to official statistics.

The classic borsch included the following ingredients: pork – 600 g, potatoes and beets – 500 g each, cabbage – 300 g, carrots and onions – 200 g each, tomato paste – 3 tablespoons, drinking water – 3.5 to 4 l, bay leaf, salt, pepper – to taste, sour cream – 250 g.

As it turned out, as of the beginning of November 2018, the most expensive borsch is in Odesa region – 105.3 UAH, while the cheapest one is in Ternopil region – 91.1 UAH. The difference is 14 UAH, or 13%.

The 3 most expensive regions are as follows: Odesa region – 105.3 UAH, Transcarpathian region – 104.8  UAH and the city of Kyiv – 104.5 UAH. And the three cheapest regions are as follows: Ternopil – 91.1 UAH, Zhytomyr – 92.8 UAH, Dnipropetrovsk – 93.3 UAH. The price of meat is a key indicator of the cost of borsch in different regions of the country. But there is a reason people say: cheap meat makes bad borsch.

As of the beginning of March this year, the most expensive borsch was in Transcarpathia – 99 UAH, the city of Kyiv – 95 UAH, and Odesa region – 94.5 UAH. That is, the three "leaders" have not changed in eight months, only the arrangement is different.

Meanwhile the three regions with the cheapest borscht eight months ago looked like this: Volyn – 82.2 UAH, Donetsk – 84.1 UAH and Lviv regions – 85.7 UAH. That is, all three are different.
