Transcarpathia is preparing for severe weather conditions

On Monday, November 25, under the chairmanship of the first deputy head of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration Igor Svyshcho, there was a session of the regional operational headquarters to coordinate local authorities, regional agencies and organizations for rapid response to winter emergencies.

According to the deputy head of the Transcarpathian Centre for Hydrometeorology Vasylyna Blokh, starting from November 28, severe weather conditions should be expected in the region. Thus, the amount of rainfall will increase, and temperatures in the low-lying areas at night will drop to -7 (° C), in the mountains – to -10 (° C). During the day, thermometers in low-lying areas will show 0 to +5 (° C).

However, already in the first week of the next month, in particular 5, 6 and 8 of December, forecasters expect significant snowfall in mountainous areas. The wind speed ​​in passing active weather fronts will reach 15-20 m / s.

Overall, Vasylyna Blokh summed up, unstable weather will hold for the entire first week of December.Because of that, in mountainous areas, on the passes, sleet and snow drifts will be observed, and in the highlands avalanches should be expected.

Therefore, all regional services reported today about their readiness to respond to emergencies that may arise in difficult weather conditions. As members of the operations staff assured, rescue and road services are ready to work in the winter period. Thus, more than 170 rescuers are in a mode of constant readiness, 6 heating stations and 4 stations of life support have been prepared. Tomorrow morning, special equipment and tractors will be sent to the most problematic areas of passes to clear possible congestions.
