Transcarpathia became the first region in the country that will receive EU grants without intermediaries

Transcarpathia will be implementing new large-scale project to attract foreign investment thanks to the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation "Tysa" (EGTC) established jointly with the Hungarians.

Today, deputies of the Regional Council unanimously approved the draft decision "On the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation with Limited Liability "Tysa". Three weeks ago, deputies of the general meeting of Szabolcs-Satmar-Bereg region (Hungary) gave their consent.

The Center of cooperation with Transcarpathia will allow to actively develop relations between the regions, coordinate positions on cooperation in the context of new European projects, especially raising of grants in infrastructure of Transcarpathia, tourism, environmental protection, preservation of cultural heritage and so on.

In the Hungarian city of Kisvárda, the agreement on the establishment of the grouping was signed by the Regional Council Chairman Volodymyr Chubirko, the chairman of the general meeting of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg region Oscar Shestak and the Mayor of Kisvárda Tibor Lelesi.

Thus, under severe budget constraints, the establishment of the EGTC will allow conducting of deep structural and comprehensive reforms in all areas – economy, health care, education, reform of local governments, primarily with technical and financial assistance of the EU.
