Tourist and regular buses at the Transcarpathian customs: when and how to go to the EU

Specialists of the Transcarpathian Customs inform citizens and those traveling abroad about the increase of passenger and vehicular traffic to EU countries at customs border checkpoints over the last months. This is due to an increase of bus services and the beginning of the tourist season, which is especially popular in the summer, during holidays.

In particular, in June 2019 alone, 63,166 citizens, 11,291 passenger cars, 1,122 passenger buses, which have more than 10 passenger seats, left Ukraine through the customs post "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian Customs.

It should be noted that the checkpoint "Uzhgorod – Vysne Nemecke" is undergoing reconstruction, both on the Ukrainian and on the Slovak side. On the Slovak side, buses with passenger capacity of more than 20 seats are processed through the in-depth inspection box for freight transport, which in turn requires more time to inspect and process one bus.

The customs office notes that the procedure for customs inspection, in particular for large passenger buses, requires compliance with the customs legislation, which may affect the time of arrival to EU countries. Therefore, customs officials advise citizens to plan their time for travel across the customs border of Ukraine properly, taking into account the customs control, as well as to choose the most favorable bus and customs checkpoint. Schedule everything in advance, and your trip abroad will be easy and fast.
