Tomorrow, our neighbors Hungarians will decide at the referendum whether they support the EU plan on migrants

As you know, tomorrow, October 2, about eight million Hungarians will vote on whether they support the EU plan on resettlement of refugees, which would oblige Hungary to take some migrants without the approval of the Parliament.

The chairman of the National Election Headquarters Pálffy Ilona, on Saturday, at a press conference, said that in order for the referendum to be valid, 4,136,313 voters must come on Sunday at polling stations, the myhungary.net informs.

According to the National Bureau of Election, 10,331 polling stations will be opened for the national referendum. Meanwhile, human rights activists are calling to cancel the "inhumane" referendum in Hungary on the EU plan for resettlement of refugees under the quota system.

The statement supported by 22 organizations was posted on the website of the Hungarian Helsinki Committee.

"We decided to start a campaign to recognize the referendum invalid because it prevents the promotion of our common values, it has no sense, and is inhumane," – the statement of the NGOs reads.

At the site of the presidential administration of Hungary, it is stated that the question to be put to the referendum is as follows: "Do you want the European Union to arrange for a mandatory settlement non-Hungarian citizens in Hungary without the consent of the Parliament?".

Recall that the EU plan for resettlement of 160,000 refugees was passed last fall.

Some EU countries strongly disagreed with this approach. In particular, Hungary as well as Slovakia, challenged the quotas for migrants in the European Court of Justice.
