Tomorrow night, you will walk in the “Soviet” Uzhgorod (Announcement)

Tomorrow night, Uzhgorod residents will go "Back to USSR".

Tomorrow, November 4th, at 21.00, in the regional center of Transcarpathia, there will be a night tour entitled "Back to USSR". The thematic tour of the city is dedicated to the liberation of Uzhgorod from Nazi occupation (October 27, 1944).

Recall that the battle for the liberation of Ukraine lasted from December 1942 to October 1944. The first Ukrainian settlement to be liberated from occupation was the village of Pivnivka in Luhansk region. Now, there stands the monument "Ukraine – to liberators" and next to it, there are graves of 1066 soldiers, representatives of seven nations, who gave their lives in the name of freedom of the Ukrainian people. The same monument is installed in Transcarpathia, where the last invader left Ukraine.

The organizer of this tour is a social activist Yevhen Agosto, who told the correspondent of Uzhgorod.in: "This event was important in the history of our country then, and is no less important for all of us now. It brought not only a new power, ideology and culture, but also changes in the population, the ethnic composition of the city and the region."

The tour guide will be Orest Kohut, who believes that for some people, October 27, 1944 may be a holiday (liberation of the land from the invaders), but for others it meant one thing: underground, exile and the Gulag.  "During the night tour, those who will attend it, will find out what the era of communism was like. What has changed in our city since then, how people lived then and what new appeared during this period."

The gathering of the participants will take place near the sculpture of Mikolajczyk (Teatralna Sq.) at 21.00.
