Three-kilometer-long queues of trucks returning from Russia to Turkey have formed in front of the checkpoint “Dyakovo”

Three-kilometer-long queues of several hundred trucks returning from Russia to Turkey have formed at the checkpoint "Dyakovo" (Transcarpathian region, Vynogradiv district) located at the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

– "Dyakovo" is the only checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border within Transcarpathia, which trucks can go through – Hennadiy Moskal said – After warming of Russian-Turkish relations (spoilt by the Turkish fighter shooting down a Russian military aircraft), the flow of cargo trucks from Turkey to Russia and back has increased tenfold.

Many trucks are returning from Russia via Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria.

Ukrainian border guards and customs officers are ready to promptly clear trucks, the delay arises from the work of Romanian customs officers who can clear a maximum of one hundred trucks a day. Drivers have to wait at the checkpoint for two days, the queue of trucks stretched for three kilometers and reached a neighboring village of Borat in Vynogradiv district.

Because of a dozen trucks standing on the main street, village residents sometimes cannot drive into their own yards. Local government ensures that trucks are not creating congestion at intersections and other transport interchanges, the situation is under control.
