Today, Jews started celebrating the New Year – Rosh Hashanah. Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv congratulated children on the holiday in the building of the Transcarpathian Regional Charity Fund "Hesed Shpira".
Not only children from Jewish families, but also their peers from families with other traditions, were invited to the celebration. They were told about the symbols of the holiday and the meaning of each of the kosher dishes made for the feast.
Bohdan Andriyiv emphasized that Uzhgorod is a multinational city, with different traditions, where diversity of cultures and tolerance prevail. At the invitation of the hosts, in particular, the head of the regional charitable center "Hesed Shpira" Mukhailo Galin, Bogdan Andriyiv started the feast by tasting an apple with honey and stuffed fish.
According to the Jewish religious calendar, it is the beginning of the year 5778.
